EMaH Master’s Students Present Their Research at the LOG Internship Seminar

🌊 EMaH Master’s Students Present Their Research at the LOG Internship Seminar

On 23 May 2025, several students from the Master of Marine Sciences – Marine and Fisheries Ecosystems (EMaH) participated in the LOG Internship Seminar, held at the Laboratory of Oceanology and Geosciences (LOG) in Wimereux.

This scientific event, organized by LOG PhD candidates and postdoctoral researchers, with the support of the Laboratory of Oceanology and Geosciences (LOG) and EUR IFSEA, aimed to showcase the research carried out by students undertaking internships within the laboratory while fostering exchanges between undergraduate and master’s students, PhD candidates, postdoctoral researchers, and senior scientists.

🎓 EMaH Master’s Students in the Spotlight

Alongside students from the DEUST programme, third-year Bachelor’s degrees and other Master’s programmes, students from the Master of Marine Sciences – EMaH presented the results of their internship projects to an audience of PhD candidates, postdoctoral researchers, lecturers, and researchers.

EMaH Master 2

Quentin Benitez
Impact of Physical and Biological Factors on the Transport and Retention of Downs Herring Larvae under Global Change.

EMaH Master 1

Eve Golfier
Study of Phytoplankton Communities Using Imaging Techniques.

Nolwenn Blanchard
Study of Marine Heatwaves in the Pas-de-Calais Area.

Edgar Ferreti
Ecobiogeochemical Responses of Several Coccolithophore Species to Different Light Intensities.

Camille Chabourine
Describing the Socio-Ecological Network of the Seafood Sector.

Lucie Ladent
Study of Population Dynamics in Marine Natural Park Nursery Areas.

Alexandre Barrone
Research on Isotopes and Sediment Core Sampling.

Yohannie Rajaspera
Study of Coral Reef Connectivity in the Great Barrier Reef.

Their presentations highlighted the diversity of research projects undertaken during their internships while providing them with valuable experience in scientific communication within a research environment.

🔬 Research Addressing Major Marine Challenges

A total of 23 interns presented research covering a wide range of topics, including:

  • 🌊 Plankton ecology;
  • 🌍 The impacts of climate change on marine ecosystems;
  • 🛰️ Remote sensing applications in marine environments;
  • 🧬 Bioinformatics and environmental data analysis.

These projects illustrate the diversity of skills developed within the Master of Marine Sciences – EMaH and their contribution to a better understanding of marine ecosystem functioning.

🤝 A Day of Scientific Exchange

Beyond the scientific presentations, the seminar provided an excellent opportunity for interaction between students, PhD candidates and researchers.

Thanks to the commitment of the LOG PhD candidates and postdoctoral researchers, participants benefited from a friendly and stimulating environment that encouraged knowledge sharing, scientific discussion and immersion in the research community.

This initiative reflects the shared commitment of LOG and EUR IFSEA to supporting student integration into the scientific community and fostering the next generation of marine scientists.

👏 Congratulations to Our Students!

The Master of Marine Sciences – Marine and Fisheries Ecosystems (EMaH) warmly congratulates all participating students for the quality of their presentations and their commitment throughout this seminar.

The programme also extends its sincere thanks to the LOG PhD candidates and postdoctoral researchers, as well as the Laboratory of Oceanology and Geosciences (LOG) and EUR IFSEA, for organizing this event, which makes a valuable contribution to the education and research training of future marine scientists.
